Harvesting

Busy day at the allotment. After doing some reading around we decided to pick the gooseberries. We are going to make jam so they seemed perfect for that. Head gardener decided to tackle some weeding and both allotment kids came along. Even reluctant digger joined in – filling water bottles and weeding.

We harvested 3.7 kg of gooseberies and left lots to soften for the birds. We also collected beans, peas, tomatoes a cucumber and the obligatory mint leaves.

We had cheese, tomato and cucumber sandwiches for lunch with mint tea and I don’t think a simple sarnie has ever tasted so good! Mixture of hard work and homegrown food.

Enjoy the pictures – the next blog will he about the afternoon jam making!

Littlest digger has a very critical eye for the best bean!

A very productive day! Even Pepper the allotment dog enjoyed herself.
